If my engagement and alliance will be the same carat gold??

My engagement ring is 14ct and when buying wedding ring, I fell in love with an 18 carat white gold ring, but some jewelers have told me to match the carat weight, so a ring does not "carry" the other while other jewelers say that this is not serious ... I know what you think about this - your wedding and engagement rings match quality??? thank you

Not only 18kt gold softer, but it is also 75% gold (which is yellow) vs. being only about 14 kt. 58% gold. Thus, 18 kt appear to have more of a yellow tint to 14 kt after he rhodium (very high quality / white shell used as expensive a standard plating on white gold to make it brighter, whiter and brighter) plate wears off. If it does not bother you go for the ring that you like or whether it is available in 14 kt.
