Why not the typical qualities of gemstones to work with me?

I am a Cancer, Pisces rising, with the majority of my planets signs in Air (with the exception of Jupiter in Scorpio). I'm attracted to gemstones and dark stones, Garnet, Onyx, Black Sapphire Blue, etc. other precious stones which are said to emit some "vibrations" or have tangible effects, do not work the way they are supposed do. Hematite is uncomfortable for me to touch, and Citrine, light amethyst, quartz, etc. I have a good vibration Quartz with rutile but is the clearest GEM / stone that I feel comfortable and does what he is supposed to do.
